With more than 40 million yearly orders in the US alone (or one for every 8 American)*, CBC with automated differential is the number one most commonly requested lab test providing invaluable insight to clinicians. Unfortunately, venous draw and turn-around-time of at least a day (in outpatient facilities) are 2 major impediments to the process.
We are tackling these obstacles by taking the common CBC out of the clinical lab and introducing it as POCT. With our technology, the patient intake process or triage, which usually includes taking blood pressure, fever, and weight measurements as well as patient history, can be now amended with a 5 second CBC test that requires no venipuncture.
Since clinicians would now have a more complete picture of the patient health, critical clinical decisions do not have to be posponed to a later visit until venipucture CBC results come back. Also, as the process is entirely quick and non-invasive, patients do not experience any of the normal anxiety associated with the venipuncture procedure.
